Often because we live in such a stressful environment and have poor diets, our adrenal glands (which produces adrenal and cortisol) get overworked and this over-production of hormones can result in a state of ligament laxity. This means your ligaments which hold your joints in place may be hypermobile. If this is the case with a patient they do far better with low-force adjustments and balancing of the musculature in order to heal.

On the contrary, a person who has very little flexibility and joints which are locked ‘out of place’ they may do better with laser therapy or physiotherapy to loosen the ligaments and muscles before using the standard chiropractic adjustment called “Diversified Technique”.

Applied Kinesiology (AK)

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a very complex chiropractic technique which was created by George Goodheart, Jr., which Dr. Best, D.C. studied under. Dr. Best, D.C. has completed more than 1,000 hours in Applied Kinesiology alone, and has assisted teaching hundreds of other doctors over many years the protocols in AK. Percussor and Adjustor Instruments from IMPAC

Dr. Ken Best, D.C. offer percussion based on Dr. Fulford’s work in unwinding the fascia of the body extremities relate to tension in the spine.

Adjustor instrumentation is very effective in making very focused movement in the spine in fixated areas with little to no discomfort, which can be easily modulated for each patient.

Activator Methods

Activator method is a chiropractic technique utilizing a low force adjusting tool to make a correction at a misaligned joint. Dr. Best, D.C. while trained in Activator, more often than not, utilizes the Adjustor from IMPAC to make the similar corrections previously done with the Activator instrument, which allows for greater diversity depending the patient.

Diversified Technique

Diversified chiropractic technique is the ‘standard’ general adjusting protocols that are taught it most chiropractic schools. It usually involves finding a line of drive which corrects a subluxation or misaligned joint and then taking a short lever thrust to restore motion to the joint.

FDA Approved Therapeutic Laser

These new class of therapeutic lasers are proving very valuable in reducing pain and inflammation. This is particularly helpful in very acute injuries which do not tolerate typical chiropractic adjustments. These lasers are also very instrumental in the rehabilitation of sports injuries.

Weight loss, cleansing, and detoxing

When it comes to weight loss, cleansing and detoxifying the body a certain amount of good judgment needs to be applied. If you are starting any cleansing or detoxifying program and you are in very poor health, you should be under the supervision of your healthcare physician as some people can have side effects as toxins are leaving the body.

In general, I wouldn’t recommend detoxifying more than two times per year, depending on what sort of program you are doing.

Side effects of cleansing

You may feel a bit ill at ease, have diarrhea, nausea and headaches.

These side effects can very greatly on how toxic your body is and how fast you are trying to detoxify. More is definitely not always better when detoxifying.

Herxheimer reaction is due to excessive detoxifying where the body reacts by having symptoms similar to flu, this usually only lasts for a few hours.

You want to avoid this type of reaction. This is because toxins are being released into the body quicker than they are being eliminated from the body and thus in a way is exposing your body to the toxins you are trying to eliminate.

If you have this reaction you need to drink more water and decrease the level of detox regime you are doing. Remember it took awhile for your body to accumulate these toxins so give your body sometime to eliminate them.

This is not to scare you from detoxifying your body. Heavy metal toxicity can result in debilitating diseases so detoxifying may be in your best interest, but be consistent rather than over zealous.

In some cases diseases that are due toxicity may require fast detoxification which is best done under the supervision of a detoxification specialist to avoid any of these complications.

This is a great look at the good fats versus bad fats. Good fats produce anti-inflammatory prostaglandins which reduce swelling and inflammatory conditions. This diet may be wonderful for persons with arthritis, certain heart conditions, anti-cancer and other inflammatory conditions. My father dropped his cholesterol levels in half from high levels to low normal in only one month. [Link]

Work/Life balance

If you are sitting in a chair all day long for work, especially during COVID, not exercising, not walking … it’s no wonder you back, hips and neck hurt.  Regular chiropractic care can help with improving joint mobilization and decreasing pain.  Additionally, the muscle testing used in Applied Kinesiology can determine if some of your muscle have deafferentation do to inactivity (turned off).  Simple techniques can be applied to return balance to the muscular/skeletal system.
